Thatta Kedona

The Village of Dolls

Nestled in the serene village of Thatta Ghulamka Dhiroka, also known as the “Village of Dolls,” Thatta Kedona is a remarkable handicrafts initiative with a mission to transform lives through art and tradition. Established in the early 1990s by German social worker Dr. Senta Siller and her husband, Dr. Norbert Pintsch, the project empowers local women by teaching them vocational skills and providing opportunities for economic independence through the creation of handmade crafts and traditional dolls.

SSDC

Senta Siller Design Center

The Senta Siller Design Center (SSDC) is a cornerstone of the transformative Thatta Kedona project, established in 1993 by Dr. Senta Siller. Originally known as the Women Art Center (WAC), the SSDC began as a platform to train local women in the intricate art of doll making. This initiative provided women with the opportunity to earn an income while preserving Pakistan’s cultural heritage, empowering them to achieve financial independence and support their families.
